As we celebrate Father’s Day, many women are blessed with wonderful and loving Dad’s. It’s easy for them to give praise and thank these men who provided them with love, guidance, humor and God-centered parenting.
Some women are spending Father’s Day without a Dad because their Dad is fighting in a war, traveling on business or recovering in a hospital room. They think of their fathers and ways to honor him.
Other women are celebrating Fathers Day remembering a Dad who is resting in peace. Father’s Day reminds them of their loss and their Daddy’s gain. These father’s live with eternal life and are not visible on earth.
A few women are not celebrating Father’s Day. They choose not to honor a Dad who is abusive, destructive or just plain mean. Knowing Satan resides in the spirit of these men, daughters of abusive Dad’s are reminded each Father’s Day that their Dad did not fulfill their expectations for love.
The Bible reminds us that we have the most amazing and loving father. Our Daddy loves us unconditionally, he disciplines us and he provides for us. Our Daddy watches over his children with an attitude of love. He shows us love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control. He is the Galatians 5:22 Dad! He is our Father God.
Accepting the love of God and knowing he is our Heavenly Father provides peace and joy to our hearts. We feel His presence touching our shoulder in love. We see His goodness in what we have. We know His patience when we sin and return to Him. And through his son Jesus, we see His faithfulness. Our Father in Heaven, gave the life of His only Son so that we may have eternal life. That’s Our Daddy!
How do we honor and show love to our Daddy on this Father’s Day? We ask ourselves “Is this pleasing to God? Are my actions today pleasing God, or pleasing my own spirit. ” We step forward to celebrate Father’s Day with actions and behaviors that are pleasing to God.
- If you have addictions, then on Father’s Day, turn away from the alcohol, drugs, sex, shopping or compulsive behaviors and turn towards God in prayer.
- If you are a habitual sinner, then celebrate Father’s Day by confessing to your Daddy, asking forgiveness and seeking His word.
- If you carry anger and hatred in your heart, then let go on Father’s Day, grab your Daddy’s hand, and allow Him to show you a Father’s love.
