Juvenile Diabetes- My Nephew’s Story

Next week, I’m going to share my story with Juvenile Diabetes. It’s extremely difficult and emotional to discuss, so I am praying for wisdom and careful guidance for my words. Just thinking about it makes my heart race and brings tears to my eyes. I can say, writing about it is not easy.

In the next few days, I’ll write about my family experience when my nephew, my sisters son, was diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes. He was a two-year-old toddler when the illness found him.

In writing the articles, I will not use his real name to protect his privacy. The story will include:

  • Early symptoms of Juvenile Type 1 Diabetes
  • The first two weeks
  • Educating the family
  • Preparing for school
  • Living with juvenile diabetes

I’ll link these articles to helpful sites, such as Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. My information is second-hand knowledge based upon my own observations of my nephew, my sister would never find time to write a blog. I’m writing about my observations and the seen effects of a child living with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes.

I’ve had a difficult time designing an Awareness Bracelet for Juvenile Diabetes and hopefully the blog story will inspire my design. I’m creating something to reflect a painful journey and it needs to be absolutely perfect in my eyes. I’m not there yet…its very personal.

If you want to follow this story and not miss an article, be sure to subscribe to the Blog.

  1. Oh, I can’t wait to see what you design. I have type 1 diabetes and was diagnosed as a juvenile. I’ve had it for 23 years now. I have actually written a tiny bit about it lately on my blog. (Read God’s Grace and A Doctor for the Journey)I LOVE your jewelry. I need to send a link to my husband.

Maybe he’ll get me something for Christmas. The spiral scripture stuff you have is so cute! God bless!

    Hello Christine,

I’m excited to see what you design for Diabetes,Awareness and also read the story about your nephew.

I have Type 1 also, but was only diagnosed about 3 year ago and trying to get myself motivated to recommitt myself to Lifestyle Chagne I started 3 years ago in order to keep my diabetes on track.

God Bless you for all you do!!

    Kristen
