Spiritual Leaders on Twitter- Follow Friday
Initially I joined Twitter when a business mentor, Kay Green from My Precious Kid, suggested I register my company name LifeVerse® Jewelry, even if I had no intent to use Twitter. She wisely advised that business owners protect their business name from social media identify theft. Registering my business ensured that someone would not misuse my business name. It made perfect sense to me, so I registered @LifeVerse with the sole purpose of preserving my business identity.
Curious in nature, I was now a member of “Twitter” and thought there must be some benefit or interest driving so many people to participate in this social trend. I started exploring, searching for people with common interests and reading a few tweeps. In some sense I felt like Mrs. Kravitz looking over the neighbors fence, watching the Twittervile neighborhood from behind my computer screen. Soon I found an interest in what the neighbors were discussing and I wanted to participate in the conversations.
It seemed everyone was boasting about the number of followers they had, so my first objective was to find followers. This was quite easy to do and within three days I discovered that Twitter had a follower Limit which I just exceeded. I also learned that I was following so many people, I could no longer find the posts written by people I really liked. I felt lost in a sea of chatter!
My second objective was to delete the 2000 people I started following. This was no easy task, since twitter does not provide a Mass Delete option. I deleted everyone and started following those people who wrote tweets that I enjoyed reading.
Now, I have developed a social neighborhood filled with positive Biblical energy. I’m following Christian authors, Bible Study leaders, pastors, artists, musicians and people passionate for Christ. Within this inspirational group of people, I noticed that I felt comfortable expressing my inner faith and commitment to God. I was connecting with people who shared a common interest and belief.
In Twitterville, I am not subject to norms of society or political correctness. I surrounded myself with Christian friends in fellowship and each day on Twitter feels like two hours spent in Sunday church. We experience daily discussions about God, Jesus, Prayer, Faith and Spiritual Growth. We’re connected by a common interest.
I’m not looking for people I can lead on Twitter, I’m looking for people that can lead me. I’ve searched for men and women passionate for Christ and spiritual growth. For me, Twitter is NOT about the number of followers I have. Twitter is about the number of spiritual Leaders I have.
To my Twitter friends, Happy Follow Friday!
These are just a few of the Spiritual Leaders that I fellowship with in a world called Twitter. If I missed your name, please let me know in the comments box & I’ll have you on the Follow Friday List!
There are several more friends that will be added to this list…this is just the beginning of my Follow Friday gratitude for these friends.

Aww thanks for adding me. :O)
You’re more of a leader than you think. Your worshipful attitude and input blesses my spirit. You lift me up.
I feel so special! Thank you!
I am truly honored. I just went through today and deleted a whole bunch of people…I am perplexed at why I followed some of them to begin with.
thanks for mentioning me. u bless me as well.
Christine, really good food for thought. My primary Twitter acct has quite a few followers, and I normally tweet about design related things. However, my work-of-heart site & new Twitter account is different. I want it to be an oasis where I am inspired by others and encouraged in my faith. Thanks for a thoughtful post – I’ve unfollowed several people since reading it.
Thank you for the Follow Friday comments and feedback. Blessings!
I really am honored to be on your list! Thank you! I so enjoy talking with you on twitter and reading Bible verses sent out by you at just the right times!
