The Swiss Courier-Book Review
What a memorable week as I celebrated Veterans Day with my family and read a new book called The Swiss Courier by Tricia Goyer and Mike Yorkey. Reading the book prior to our Veterans Day celebration placed me back in time, as I followed the adventures of Gabi Mueller, the twenty-four-year-old Pastor’s daughter working as a World War II spy.
I loved this book and even contacted author Tricia Goyer on Twitter to share my appreciation after reading The Swiss Courier. You see, my dear Mother-in-Law was also a spy in World War II and the pages of this book allowed me to revisit her fascinating life. Both my Mother-in-Law and Gabi were decoding war messages, and both lived life as a single young woman in her romantic twenties. My enjoyment of the book stemmed from personal stories shared within our family. For me, Gabi brought me into the excitement, danger, romance and mystery of life as a female spy in World War II.
From beginning to end, The Swiss Courier is filled with pages of historical adventure. As a reader I found myself searching for clues within the words, cheering for certain characters, and holding my breath as I waited for scenes to evolve. Each page captivated me as I followed Gabi’s story.
I’ve never been a fan of history…well…actually…I never liked history. Yet reading The Swiss Courier I was able to follow historical facts through the lives of fictional characters and found I enjoyed the book immensely. If you’re looking for something to read with adventure, history, romance, and intellectual stimulation-then you’ll want to read The Swiss Courier!
