Swinging On a Star-Book Review

Swinging on a Star is the second book in the Weddings by Bella Series by author Janice Thompson. The first book, Fools Rush In, introduced us to Bella, a wedding planner surrounded by a colorful Italian family, complete with talking parrot! In the first book, Bella coordinates her first theme wedding, learning through trial and error. While planning the theme wedding, Bella meets DJ and her own relationship blossoms as she plans the wedding for her bride.

In Swinging on a Star, a new bride has employed Bella to coordinate her seemingly impossible theme wedding, complete with theatrical designs and one Hollywood-style member of the wedding party. Bella must keep the celebrity hidden from fame, so read along as she finds the perfect hiding place for Brock. While the Hollywood hunk is hiding out, the entire town of women are entranced by his outward appearance. Keeping the Hollywood hunk hidden and entertained is a major task-inviting a generous tip from the father of the bride! Of course, his proximity to Bella is complicating her own love relationships and those within her family.

The writing style of the author is as fantastic as her first book, in the Weddings by Bella series. In the first book, Fools Rush In, colorful characters and adventure flowed chapter-by-chapter. In this second book, Swinging on a Star, the characters seem a bit more serious and mature-until half-way through the book, when the characters start flying once again and you just can’t put the book down. Each page in this book will make you smile with laughter, or swing on a star.

If I could give this book a 10 out of 10 rating, I would! What a romantic comedy, where each character brings a different love style to the story. When I finished reading this book, I had a smile on my face and a memory in my heart that would last for weeks. Great story of romance and comedy! Who better to write a romantic comedy than Janice Thompson, a wedding coordinator herself. She knows her brides and her characters come alive in these Weddings by Bella series. There is a tenderness and faith-inspired love woven within these stories, one that excludes the typical pride or self-centered diva personality, common in most wedding books. The books are refreshing and filled with bridal humor, rather than bridal drama.

Highly recommend reading-I will keep this as a Top 10 favorite book. The story and characters are memorable. I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher Revell Books.
